From the Wiltshire Times on Saturday the 24th of October 1908

On Saturday afternoon, while the Corston and Rodbourne football team was playing versus Crudwell, at the latter village, a painful accident befell one of the visiting players named Jack Taylor. Taylor and another player kicked simultaneously at the ball, and Taylor’s leg was broken, there being a compound fracture. The unfortunate player was carried off the ground, and driven to the Malmesbury Cottage Hospital, where he is going on favourably.
